Marsiling Secondary School offers DSA to eligible students via Malay Dance. This is in line with our Learning for Life Programme which aims to build leadership, resilience and persons of good character.
Malay Dance is a dynamic performing arts CCA which requires passion, stamina, teamwork and commitment. Marsiling Malay dance was formed since the school started and has competed in dance competitions and represented the school in the Singapore Youth festivals. The dance group focusses on both traditional and contemporary Malay dance.
We have achieved the certificate of distinction since 2017 and aims to maintain the quality and standard of our dancers and dance program. Our CCA welcomes interested students from all races and gender.
To date we have about 30 dancers and an experience dance instructor who has almost 20 years of experience and an excellent team of teachers to bring out the best in the dancers. The Malay Dance programme has proven to be an effective way to help our students develop personal qualities such as teamwork, self-discipline and leadership skills.
This programme ensures that all dancers are competent with Malay Dance skills (Inang, Zapin, Masri, Joget and Asli) and building up their stamina through physical exercises and warm up.
During periods of competition, there will be additional training sessions to sufficiently prepare the dancers.
